Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park

  • Honeyman_sunset_04
Situated half way up the Oregon coast and three miles south of Florence on scenic Highway 101 is the second largest overnight camp in the state. There are two miles of sand dunes between the park and the ocean. Two natural freshwater lakes are within the park. Cleawox -- which is great for swimming -- and Woahink, which has a public boat ramp, is used for all water sports. Rent a canoe and explore the lake. I have just added a Cleawox Photo Album to our Blog, Cleawox Lake is one of my favorite places to take photos because of the beautiful scenes created by our amazing Summertime Sunsets here in Florence.

DOGS ON THE BEACH, By James Heintz Broker Prudential Pacific Properties

The dogs are always excited when I drop the tailgate of my old Ford
truck. After moving to Florence it didn't take them long to figure out
that an open tailgate was, for them, an invitation to heaven. Heaven
can be found in many places around Florence and our favorite is the
piece of open beach north of Driftwood Shores.
When we moved to Florence we elected to take advantage of living in
the city and we often drive to special places near by that make us
happy.

With the dogs latched in the camper, my wife Suzanne and I make the
short drive to Heceta Beach. Its only a few miles down Rhododendron
Drive to Joshua where you make a left followed by another left on 3rd
Avenue and a right on Ocean Way. Sitting before you is the massive
Pacific Ocean and miles of broad sandy beaches. The dogs are ready and
are out of the truck and spinning around our feet.

We have two great dogs. Elway is a German Shepherd and Jenny is a
Sheltie. They both are seven years old and live for the beach. We clip
them to their leashes until we get to the sand and can see if there
are other dogs to be concerned about or not. If the beach is clear we
let them run. There are few sights more beautiful than a rich orange
sun setting on top of the rolling surf with a broad ribbon of light
dancing across the water and the silhouette of your dog bouncing
across the top of the surf's sea foam.

Elway loves to view himself as the great hunter and drops into a deep
crouch as he slowly creeps up upon the beach birds. The bottom of his
chest is reflected on the wet sand until he makes his charge and the
birds casually lift into the air above his reach. Elway has never
caught anything. His has several problems with his hunting efforts.
The first is that the birds are much faster than he is and the second
is the stick he grabs in his mouth when we first start our walk and he
refuses to relinquish until we return to the truck.

The beach is always changing. No two walks are the same. One day will
find bright sunshine and a calm that almost puts the surf to sleep.
Another day will have rain spinning down the beach like a tornado
dragging itself from one beach stump to another. My dogs don't care.
The beach is the beach and that is what they live for.

Prudential Pacific Properties agents are Priceless

"What's it worth?" The wrong answer to this question can cost you big bucks! Worse yet, there's no simple answer to this deceptively simple question because home prices aren't precise. Houses sell for fair market value, which is whatever buyers offer and sellers accept. Fair market value is not a specific number; it's a price range.
A good agent can be the foundation of your real estate team. An agent can help you find a home that meets your needs, negotiate for that home on your behalf, supervise property inspections, and coordinate the closing. Agents often have useful leads for mortgage loans. A good agent's negotiating skills and knowledge of property values can save you thousands of dollars.
All the best agents have certain important qualities in common:
  • They educate you:
Your agent knows the buying process and carefully explains each step so that you understand exactly what's happening at all times. Agents should be patient, not pushy.
  • They enable you to make good decisions:
Your agent always explains what your options are so that you can make wise decisions regarding your best course of action. They advise you if they think that you should add other experts (property inspectors, lawyers, and so on) to your team -- experts don't threaten a good agent.
  • They voluntarily limit themselves geographically and by property type:
Good agents know that trying to be all things to all people invariably results in mediocre service. Even though real estate laws are the same throughout your state, different areas within the state generally have radically different market conditions, local zoning ordinances, and building code restrictions.
  • They have contacts:
Folks prefer doing business with people they know, respect, and trust. You can make use of your agent's working relationships with local lenders, property inspectors, lawyers, title officers, insurance agents, government officials, and other real estate agents.
  • They have time for you:
Success is a two-edged sword. An agent who is already working with several other buyers and sellers probably doesn't have enough surplus time to serve you properly. Occasional scheduling conflicts are unavoidable. If, however, you often find your needs being neglected because your agent's time is over committed, get a new agent.
